This lecture presents the biological tissue responses of soft and hard tissues and the effect it has on ideal implant placement and creating esthetic implant restorations. The viewer will learn the ideal 3-dimensional implant position, critical biological factors and the effect they have on long-term peri-implant tissue support. The complex events of wound healing leading to stable epithelium and connective tissue adherence will be shown and the outcome following flap versus flapless techniques discussed. Advances in accurate provisionalization and abutment design optimize the outcome of treatment.
